The Church is blessed with a rich heritage and abundant resources on marriage and family, including such revered documents as Pope St. Paul VI’s Humanae Vitae and Pope St. John Paul II’s Familiaris Consortio and teachings on the Theology of the Body. In this light one might wonder what more can or needs to be said.
The present course will complement these Church teachings and the critical issues on which they touch by delving directly into the Sacred Scriptures, with a view to exploring firsthand the Bible’s own treasure of divine insight and timeless wisdom from the Creator and Designer of marriage and family himself.
Under the broad headings of The Family Formed, The Family Deformed, and The Family Reformed, this course will offer an in-depth but accessible consideration of the Bible’s most defining passages on such topics as: God’s vision and mission for marriage and family; roles of husbands and wives; why we experience conflicts and how to resolve them; how to parent children who love and walk with God; how to cultivate and maintain love and intimacy; and more. We will unpack some of the widely misunderstood concepts like ‘headship’ and ‘submission’, and penetrate to the heart of both the challenges and the immense blessings of building our homes God’s way.
Heaven, Help the Home is not a counseling, therapy, or support group in the usual sense, but an information-rich course in the study of Sacred Scripture and its transforming message for those who wish to build their marriages and families on the foundation of God’s Holy Word.
This course is available to take in-person or online at your own pace. In-person class sizes are limited, so register early. Online classes will be available the day following each in-person class. In-person enrollments include free access to the online course.
