Introduction to the Bible II: What It Says and How To Read It

In this week-long, five-part study, we will move from theory to practice, from guiding principles to their application in the actual task of discerning the meaning and message of biblical texts. After we lay the groundwork for reading, studying, praying, living, and proclaiming the Sacred Scriptures, we’ll move toward developing the tools in the interpreter’s toolbox for doing interpretation responsibly. Adopting the analogy of a construction project, each of the five class sessions will address a topic related to the study and interpretation of the Bible, including some basic steps and their application in practice. This is a learn-how-to-do-it course for those who wish to grow in their ability to study Scripture as faithful and growing disciples of Christ.
